When Does 1U–4U Server Colocation Make Sense for Your Business?

Allocating their own hardware in a data center is suitable for companies that need to manage their physical servers themselves, but it is not profitable to create and maintain their own server infrastructure.

The Colocation 1U–4U format is especially convenient if a company needs to host one or more servers, a data storage system, or network equipment. Flexible conditions allow you to rent only the necessary space in a shared rack and increase it as the infrastructure grows.

If the hardware requires more than 4U, CloudKleyer also offers hosting in a ¼ rack (10U), a ½ rack (21U) or a full rack (42U).

Technical specifications of the server rack

For hosting, we use standard 19-inch server cabinets designed for the installation of servers, storage systems, and network equipment. The server cabinet is locked with a key. When the cabinet is opened, the owner of computing hardware receives an automatic notification. Each rack is equipped with an individual power meter.

More than just a place for a server

When hosting your hardware, CloudKleyer provides not only rack space and data center infrastructure. Customers receive network connectivity and engineering support throughout the whole duration of the agreement.

Payment by credit card

You can pay for the Data Center Rack Space Rental service by credit card via Stripe, as long as the payment amount does not exceed €500.

How to pay:

Submit payment request to CloudKleyer support.
Receive the invoice and the link for Stripe payment via the email you provided.
Follow the link and pay the invoice by credit card.

If the payment amount exceeds €500 or you prefer a different payment method, contact CloudKleyer support, and they will offer you other available options.

Technical Standards of Tier III Data Center

UPS N+1 and redundant network connectionsThe continuity of the server rack operation is ensured by dual uninterruptible power supply systems with redundancy according to the circuit N+1 scheme: if the main UPS fails, the backup one turns on automatically.

Autonomous backup power supplyIn the event of a complete shutdown of the external power supply, the uninterrupted operation of the data center is provided by its own diesel generators for several days.

Temperature +24 °C and redundancy of cooling N+2The temperature in the server rooms is constantly maintained at +24 °C. The air conditioning backup system is built according to the N+2 scheme: when two air conditioners fail at the same time, backup equipment is automatically switched on.

Multilevel fire protectionOptical and thermal fire detectors are installed on two levels: on the ceiling and under the raised floor. The facility uses modern active internal fire extinguishing systems. Rooms with active or passive fire protection are available for equipment hosting.

Colocation in a full rack with a capacity of up to 60 kW

For a high-density infrastructure, CloudKleyer offers full server racks with an available capacity of up to 60 kW. Depending on the project requirements, instead of the standard 8 kW you can choose a configuration for 20, 30 or 60 kW.

High-Density Colocation is suitable for hosting high-performance servers and consolidating resource-intensive IT infrastructure, including GPU servers, AI and Machine Learning systems, HPC clusters and other projects with higher power and cooling requirements.

Additional bandwidthThe speed of the internet connection can be increased depending on the project requirements and the amount of data transfer. We are ready to offer commercial internet tariffs with speeds up to 10 Gbps or more.

What does 1U mean when hosting a server?

U (Rack Unit) is a standard unit for measuring the height of hardware installed in a server rack. 1U corresponds to 44.45 mm. If the server has a 2U form factor, two units of rack space must be rented to accommodate it.

What is included in the cost of Colocation 1U–4U?

The tariff includes the necessary space in the server rack, an internet connection with a speed of 100 Mbit/s and one IPv4 address. The server is hosted in the infrastructure of a professional certified data center with redundant power supply, cooling and security systems.

Is electricity bill included in the monthly price?

No. Electricity is charged separately according to the actual energy consumption of the hosted hardware.

Is it possible to host multiple servers?

Yes. CloudKleyer provides from 1U to 4U for hosting individual servers and other hardware. If the infrastructure requires more space, you can rent a ¼ rack (10U), a ½ rack (21U) or a full rack (42U).

How does Colocation 1U–4U differ from renting a full rack?

When using Colocation 1U–4U, the company pays only for the space needed to accommodate specific hardware. Renting a full rack provides the customer with an entire 42U cabinet and is suitable for a larger server infrastructure. Therefore, renting individual units for one or more servers allows you not to pay for unused space.

Can CloudKleyer move my server to a data center?

Yes. CloudKleyer can arrange the physical relocation of an existing server to a data center within Germany at no additional cost. Relocation conditions are negotiated separately at the signing of the contract.

What should I do if the server needs physical maintenance?

CloudKleyer engineers can perform the necessary work directly in the data center as part of the Remote Hands service: check connections, reboot hardware, replace cables or components, perform diagnostics, and other technical operations.

Is it possible to upgrade from 1U–4U to a larger space later?

Yes. As the infrastructure grows, you can upgrade to a quarter rack (10U), a half rack (21U) or a full rack (42U) without changing the data center.

Is it possible to increase the connection speed?

Yes. 100 Mbps is included in the basic tariff of Colocation 1U–4U. If the server infrastructure requires higher bandwidth, CloudKleyer can additionally offer the necessary network configuration in accordance with the project requirements.
